Background and Identification

Oculus Rift is a group of virtual reality headsets developed and manufactured by Oculus VR, a division of Facebook Inc since 2014. There were several pre-production models that were made prior to the commercial release of the Rift CV1, which was released in 2016 as Oculus’ first consumer offering. The CV1 was around for three years until it was discontinued in March 2019. It was then that the successor, the Oculus Rift S, was released. Features of the Oculus Rift include integrated audio and touch control. It requires Windows 10, in order to run new and upcoming features and apps according to Techradar. They also noted that you would need a wired connection to a high-performance gaming PC in order to get the optimum resolution of 1080 x 1200 in each lens. Oculus Rift’s main focus is gaming but it is also utilized for non-gaming functions such as social applications, media, industrial and professional, and educational. Motion sickness is a possible side effect of using the Oculus Rift or other VR.
