Introduction

In this guide, we show and explain how to access the spark plugs, and how to swap them and reassemble the car once it's done. The illustrations are of a 5.7 liter V8 motor, but the same steps can be applied to a V6 of the same year.

    • Unlatch and lift the hood of your car.

    • Locate the coil packs covering the spark plugs.

    • Depending on engine, there will be 6 to 8 coil packs.

    • Before you begin to remove the coil packs, one will be blocked by the air intake.

    • Use a 5/16 wrench to remove the single air intake bracket.

    • Use a flathead screwdriver to loosen the air intake hose clamp.

    • Move the intake hose and filter box over to reach the last coil pack.

    • To remove a coil pack, two bolts will need to be removed. Use a 3/8 inch drive ratchet with a 10 mm socket to remove the first two bolts.

    • Gently pull on the coil pack to remove it, and lay it to the side.

    • Once a coil pack has been removed, we will have access to 2 of the old spark plugs.

    • Before installing new spark plugs, use a gap gauge to measure the gap at the bottom of the spark plug.

    • The gap gauge of a Dodge Charger should be 0.043 to 0.045.

    • Once you have checked the gap of the spark plug it can be installed. Then swap the ratchet to tighten and use it with the extension and 5/8 spark plug socket to install the new spark plugs.

    • Once new spark plugs have been installed, move the coil pack back into place and use the ratchet with the 10mm socket to tighten them down.

    • After using the steps provided above and all 16 spark plugs have been replaced with the coil packs inserted, you will need to reinstall the air intake.

    • Reinsert the air intake and use the ratchet to tighten the bolt.

    • Use the flathead screwdriver to tighten the intake hose clamp.

Conclusion

Congratulations, you have successfully replaced the spark plugs of a 2016 Dodge Charger.

Keep in mind that it is recommended by manufacturer to change them every 30000 miles. By using this guide to change them yourself you will save roughly 200 dollars versus going to an auto repair shop.

Thank you for your information and pictures but this is not for all of them and the left side of engine is way harder than right side please include that as well!
