Kingsman: The Red Diamond is a British spy-action comic book limited series written by Rob Williams and illustrated by Simon Fraser. Published by Image Comics,[5] the series is a sequel to The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, the second comic series in the Kingsman franchise by Millar, Gibbons, and Matthew Vaughn. Set in the Millarworld, the series chronicles the continued missions of Agent Galahad of Kingsman (originally named Gary London of MI6 in the previous series, renamed Gary "Eggsy" Unwin in this installment after his cinematic counterpart), as he faces off against the terrorist group the Red Diamond along with South African Secret Service (SASS) agent Kwaito.[6] The series, originally published between September 6, 2017 and February 7, 2018, was collected as a graphic novel on April 4, 2018, was followed by Big Game in 2023,[7] and will be republished as an omnibus by Dark Horse Comics in 2024.[8]

Premise

Working-class super-spy Eggsy follows in his deceased mentor's footsteps, but is still rough around the edges for a Kingsman agent. Following an interrupted date with Emma Watson and hot on the heels of a rescue mission to save Prince Phillip that culminated in Eggsy sucker punching the 95-year-old, leading to his suspension, he embarks on a mission to stop an international terror plot led by Red Diamond in a story that starts where James Bond draws the line, in Eggsy teaming up with South African Secret Service (SASS) agent Kwaito.[9][10]

  • Sir Giles – The current head of Kingsman, an offshoot of MI6 (what the super-spy organisation was previously identified as in the first volume).
  • Le Fay (10566) – The current head of weaponry at Kingsman, who is constantly wearing an eyepatch on her head due to a serious eye infection.
The Red Diamond
  • Red Diamond (Jakobus du Preez) – An anti-technological South African mining magnate and head of the Red Diamond Mining Company, a miner who worked his way up from nothing via gold and jewel strikes, who hires the Treeman Twins to create the Red Diamond Virus to shut down the world's computers, aiming to return the world to the era of kings and queens, ruled by material wealth, based in an underwater mining city in Guam.
  • Ingot – The Red Diamond's main enforcer, a film-obsessed behemoth hunchbacked henchman ("hunchman") who repeatedly says "gum" (Guam).
  • The Treeman Twins – The best computer hackers on the planet, who created a deadly computer virus for the Red Diamond.[11]
  • Darren – The red-spectacled leader of Red Diamond's soldiers, based on his underwater city in Guam.
Supporting characters
  • Prince Phillip – The Duke of Edinburgh, who is kidnapped by Greek terrorists (unaware that he is also Greek) and sucker punched by Eggsy.
  • Emma Watson – A world-famous actress and the star of the Harry Potter film series and Beauty and the Beast who dates Eggsy.
  • Samantha "Sam" – Eggsy's childhood crush and a bartender who believes Eggsy now thinks himself above the working-class.
  • Ryan Unwin – Eggsy's younger half-brother, whom Eggsy looks after while their mother is on a date, treating his temporary norovirus.
  • Sharon Unwin (née London) – Eggsy's and Ryan's mother, who returns to her old accommodation due to the judgement of the upper-class.
  • Johnny – Sharon's unemployed boyfriend, who always speaks about himself in the third person.
  • Alias – A legendary computer hacker wanted by both Russia and the CIA, who is contacted by the Treeman Twins with the aim of stopping their virus.
  • Ted – A homeless veteran of the Royal Navy whom Eggsy pays to do odd jobs for him.

Sequel

In 2023, a follow-up limited series, Big Game, written by a returning Mark Millar and illustrated by Pepe Larraz, was published by Image Comics, following Eggsy as he teams up with Mindy McCready / Hit-Girl against the forces of Wesley Gibson and his Fraternity of Super-Criminals.[19]
