Background and Identification

Canon printers are manufactured by Canon, Inc., a multinational corporation based in Ōta, Tokyo, Japan.

Canon has achieved many groundbreaking accomplishments in the world of printers. In 1978, they created the first portable calculator with the ability to print called the Canon P10-D. The following year, they released the Canon LBP-10, the first semiconductor laser beam printer in the world. In 1985, Canon released the BJ-80 inkjet printer, the world’s first printer to use Bubble Jet technology. In 1992, Canon entered the color inkjet printer market with the Canon BJC-820.

They have continued to manufacture inkjet printers, laser printers, mobile and compact printers, large format printers, and MegaTank inkjet printers. Canon has numerous printer product lines, including the PIXMA, MAXIFY, SELPHY, IVY, and imageCLASS. Contained within each of these series is a sub-series with additional models. For example, the PIXMA line has various models for different uses, ranging from all-in-one printers (PIXMA MG/MX/TR/TS) to professional-grade printers (PIXMA Pro) to business printers (PIXMA iX).

Some Canon wireless printers allow users to print from a mobile device using the Canon PRINT app. Canon printers are compatible with up to 40 different features including Bluetooth capabilities, Amazon Alexa, and even an app for printing nail stickers.
