Errors when deploying to Heroku [logs included]

Question

I'm having trouble deploying to Heroku, I've just fixed a postgresql error but now have an ActionView error amongst others. Not sure how to fix this one. please advice.

Thanks Jim - yep, I've migrated the db and have installed postgresql and unicorn server. i'd like to hear any other suggestions or thoughts that you may have. — Apane101, May 25 '13 at 04:05

here is your problem. In schema.rb you have

create_table "users", :force => true do |t|
  t.datetime "created_at", :null => false
  t.datetime "updated_at", :null => false
end

and in User.rb you have

class User < ActiveRecord::Base

  attr_accessible :name

  blogs

  def username
    name = "Anthony Panepinto"
  end

end

you need to delete the username method and run a migration to add username as an attribute of User

rails generate migration add_username_to_users username:string

then run

rake db:migrate

If you did this right your schema.rb will look like this

create_table "users", :force => true do |t|
  t.datetime "created_at", :null => false
  t.datetime "updated_at", :null => false
  t.string "username"
end

and User.rb should look like

class User < ActiveRecord::Base

  attr_accessible :name

  blogs

end

You want to do all this locally in the development environment to make sure everything is right before you push it to Heroku. Its easier to debug in development first rather than looking at Heroku error logs.
