Set progressBar to a function Android

Question

I have a function, to update Contact List on my phone. I need to put a Progress Bar when the contacts are updating. I need to add a progress bar to the update function. How do i do that? The Update function is working well, i only need a progress bar to show it is updating. Please help.

Why don't you just put a spinning circle. This will be more intuitive, if you put progress bar the user will struggle to understand what's happening :) — g00dy, Aug 02 '13 at 12:06

Or simply - `` and play with the visibility of it (e.g. in the `onCreate()` set it to GONE and then in the beginning of the `onClick()` set it to VISIBLE (just in case) and at the end set it to GONE again). — g00dy, Aug 02 '13 at 12:12

Use This:

These functions will keep changing loading between 4 images,just call it before updating contact and call StopProgress() after getting the data finished

XML Layout "progress_layout":

i think that a solution with an AsyncTask would be more elengant. This is the example code of the AsyncTask:

    protected Result doInBackground(Params... arg0) {

You can also easily change the look of the dialog to match the look&feel of your app. Hope this simple code helps ^^
