My project is using Spring 4. I am new to Spring. I was trying out the example shown in this question How does autowiring work in spring?. My project looks like this:

UPDATE: I implemented UserService in UserServiceImpl. That has solved the problem. Now I get the following error:

    When you use an interface as the basis of polymorphism (as you appear to be doing with UserService) the concrete classes must implement that interface (in your case UserServiceImpl must implement UserService) – DwB Jan 30 '14 at 14:05

UserServiceImpl need to implements UserService and it should be fine.

Code example:

public class UserServiceImpl
implements UserService
{
    ... stuff

You are using the interface in your controller and you are creating one bean in the spring xml configuration. Reviewing your code, I can see that UserServiceImpl doesn´t implement UserService. For that reason you are getting that error.

I think that, you will get another error because you are loading beans using annotations and creating a bean userService in spring xml... you will have 2 bean with the same name. My suggestion is remove 

<bean id="userService" class="com.mj.cchp.service.impl.UserServiceImpl" />

remove JdbcDaoSupport from UserDaoImpl or inject dataSource in UserDaoImpl and follow those steps.

<bean id="userDao" ....>
    <property name="dataSource" ref="dataSource" />
</bean>

Don't use new JdbcTemplate instead use getJdbcTemplate().insert...

why do you need to do this? Because you are usin JdbcDaoSupport.
