Am trying to create a d3 map using geo json using albers projection as follows:

The above code scales and translates my map correctly. How ever if I try to draw Australia alone using above code, map is being drawn vertically. Is there a way to center and properly rotate map ( without trail and error). Is there a way to use albers projection for any geo json.
If not , any pointers as to which is the best projection to use for any geo json so that i will be able to draw any map with the given code.
