I would like to know, if I can use any command to append any word or letter to few lines in a file.
For Instance: Lets say i have a file with 100 lines and I would like to add "#" to few lines. How do I do it using command?

`sed` can help if you can isolate the lines which are of interest using regexes. – Anirudh Ramanathan Mar 16 '15 at 05:39

the question is too broad in scope. Can't you just open your file in your favorite editor and append whatever you wish? – cur4so Mar 16 '15 at 05:56
