I've searched for a solution to this problem all over stackoverflow and other sites, but I couldn't find a solution that addresses this particular error. Eclipse fails to launch, with an error in the log file that states that an Application error occurred, due to a java.lang.IllegalStateException.

This only began after I installed the Android Developer Tools plugin which includes the Android NDK, and then restarted Eclipse. The version of eclipse that I have was installed as part of the Tegra Android Development Pack: https://developer.nvidia.com/tegra-android-development-pack

The Eclipse version is 4.3.2, and I am running Ubuntu 14.04. Part of the log file is as follows:

  • http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2493415/unable-to-acquire-application-service-error-while-launching-eclipse - I don't have the answer but this might be useful – Gulfaran Mar 29 '15 at 23:21
  • I've seen that post, but unfortunately this is a different type of error and none of the solutions there have worked. – DarkyTheOdd Mar 29 '15 at 23:40
