Where can I add a method to update my location everytime I change from position. This is my GPSTracker class. I've tried to add the location listener but I don't know Where.

public class GPSTracker extends Service implements LocationListener {

    private final Context mContext;

    // flag for GPS status
    boolean isGPSEnabled = false;

    // flag for network status
    boolean isNetworkEnabled = false;

    boolean isLocationListenerEnable = false;

    // flag for GPS status
    boolean canGetLocation = false;

    Location location; // location
    double latitude; // latitude
    double longitude; // longitude

    // The minimum distance to change Updates in meters
    private static final long MIN_DISTANCE_CHANGE_FOR_UPDATES = 10; // 10 meters

    // The minimum time between updates in milliseconds
    private static final long MIN_TIME_BW_UPDATES = 1000 * 60 * 1; // 1 minute

    // Declaring a Location Manager
    protected LocationManager locationManager;

    public GPSTracker(Context context) {
        this.mContext = context;
        getLocation();
    }

    public Location getLocation() {
        try {
            locationManager = (LocationManager) mContext
                    .getSystemService(LOCATION_SERVICE);

            // getting GPS status
            isGPSEnabled = locationManager
                    .isProviderEnabled(LocationManager.GPS_PROVIDER);

            // getting network status
            isNetworkEnabled = locationManager
                    .isProviderEnabled(LocationManager.NETWORK_PROVIDER);

            if (!isGPSEnabled && !isNetworkEnabled) {
                // no network provider is enabled
            } else {
                this.canGetLocation = true;
                // First get location from Network Provider
                if (isNetworkEnabled) {

  • well you dont do anything in onLocationChanged.... – tyczj May 27 '15 at 19:31
  • also, service has only the default constructor – Blackbelt May 27 '15 at 19:34

  • How will I retrieve the lat and longitude from that code @DanielNugent – Nestor Uriel May 27 '15 at 19:48
  • If that code is too advanced for you, just use the code from this answer for now, it's a modified implementation of GPSTracker that actually uses the `onLocationChanged()` callbacks, and it also shows how to use it: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19365035/location-servise-gps-force-closed/19366773#19366773 – Daniel Nugent May 27 '15 at 19:58
  • @DanielNugent I have a problem with you code, it's always showing me message alert that my GPS is not enable, and it's enable the only thing is that Im connected to the internet I'm not using my mobile network. – Nestor Uriel Jun 01 '15 at 18:07
  • @NestorUriel Sorry, it's not my code, I just linked to other people's code to help you out. If you're still having problems, just search for other posts that might help you, there are literally thousands of posts on StackOverflow about this! – Daniel Nugent Jun 01 '15 at 18:20

You have to use onLocationChanged() to get the current position updates. You are currently doing nothing over there. Add these lines.

@Override
     public void onLocationChanged(Location location) {
        latitude = location.getLatitude();
        longitude = location.getLongitude();
     }

  • Hey sorry for answering late! I've done what you said, but still my location doesnt update when I move to another place, it's still giving me my LastLocation. @Rishabh Tatiraju – Nestor Uriel May 28 '15 at 18:17
  • You are using getLastKnownLocation. That will only give you the location known by the LocationManager. You have to force it to get new coordinates. I'll give a snippet tomorrow, its midnight here :P – Rishabh Tatiraju May 28 '15 at 18:20
