The older templates that use the now deprecated getMap()
used the setUpMap()
method.
Since you're using getMapAsync()
you already have the onMapReady()
method, so there's no need to separate out the code into yet another method.
Here is full class code from my other answer, which places a Marker at the current position obtained by either GPS or Network location using LocationServices.FusedLocationApi
