How to validate an email address with international characters

I am working on a project that requires front-end JavaScript or jQuery validation. We previously used the following script to validate email addresses, but it does not work perfectly.

I am in search of the best practices way to validate email addresses with regards to international characters. In my research I read that it is best to not use RegEx to validate for international emails, but I could not locate a solution. If anyone has an idea, I would appreciate your input.

I usually just look for a single `@` and at least one character before and after the `@`. You can also check for at least one `.` after the `@` if you don't expect anyone to have an email address on a top-level domain. Other than that, like the first commenter said, just send an email with a verify link. — Cully, Nov 12 '20 at 07:58

Don't validate email via Regex.

So please, don't use regex. If you use HTML5, use this code

It will check a lot of thing for you and is less error prone.

Then, to be sure the email is valid, send an email confirmation to it.

use the URL interface and simply prefix a protocol
check the result has a valid looking domain and username: 1-64 character username, @ symbol, a letter followed by a domain expressed as a-z followed by a combination of 3-252 alphanumeric, dash and dot after the URL internal punycode transformation

This works for any supported character set and internationalized domains, if the browser can input the address then it can also construct a URL with that input.
