Failed to open stream : Permission denied for URL

Question

I have this issue with my code, I get this error and I'm not sure what it means.

Warning: file_get_contents(http://www.minecraft.net/haspaid.jsp?user=xCodr) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/www/tripex-network.com/core/classes/Validate.php on line 60

Can anyone please explain to me how to fix it.

I am trying to access that site, and it says failed to open stream...

It means that PHP can't access the file because of a permissions issue. Check the file can be accessed by the user running PHP. — 93196.93, Jan 30 '16 at 20:37

You shouldn't have a problem with file_get_contents to http://www.minecraft.net/haspaid.jsp?user=xCodr since it responds without any issues - you can try it as it is in your browser.

So it seems you have a security policy in place in your server that blocks you. Maybe SELinux?

If you do have SELinux try the following:

setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect on
