I have a d3 tree layout , on which i have placed marker. The code has been given below.

The marker is defines as :

Marker is added as:

.attr("marker-start", "url(#arrow)");

But my aim is to add the marker in the centre of the curves ( something like the direction of the curve ) . I cannot use marker-mid since there is no midpoint to the curve. Even if I place it in the centre manipulating X and Y , the orientation will be wrong?

Is there anyway through which this is possible? Basically all I want is adding direction on a tree layout ( or a curve rather).

  • Basically instead of one path, split the path in half and place the marker at the start (where the path joins) of the path – thatOneGuy May 31 '16 at 13:28
  • But the links here will be dynamically created SVG paths. They can't be split in half i guess unlike static svg path. – Sooraj May 31 '16 at 13:30

  • Yes , already went through that. But `marker-mid` cannot be used for tree layout since it does not have a midpoint. – Sooraj May 31 '16 at 13:34
  • That's why you must change or redefine the original "line" generator of Tree Layout to "path" generator. There is no other solution.
