I have multiple Bootstrap accordions on the same page and have noticed that the event triggers for any single accordion can effect all (i.e. open/close on a single accordion effects all accordions.)

Without changing the markup and without using $(this), is there a way to scope the following example?: https://jsfiddle.net/terra823/kgrjg2z3/1/

sure, use the array index of the accordion, for example:

this will close only the first item.

Actually, your JavaScript event targets both .panel-collapse. You should target only the panel in the .container scope like this:

// For close all button
$('.closeall').click(function(){
    $(this).closest('.container').find('.panel-collapse.in').collapse('hide');
});

// For open all button
$('.openall').click(function(){
    $(this).closest('.container').find('.panel-collapse:not(".in")').collapse('show');
});
