I want to calculate of distance & time between user location & another location by tap in Google Map Android API V2. Right Now Below is the code to get after tap two location & get distance & time between two points .

After using this code I am getting opening a map .

I am not able to mark two location so that it will be calculate time and distance

Reference for code :- http://wptrafficanalyzer.in/blog/driving-distance-and-travel-time-duration-between-two-locations-in-google-map-android-api-v2/

Why i am not able to get mark and calculate time and distance ?

MainActivity.java

To address your concerns:

  1. I am not able to mark two location so that it will be calculate time and distance

    • Since you prefer to use tap, you may try using onCameraMove(). As mentioned in Camera change events

The onCameraMove() callback of the OnCameraMoveListener is invoked multiple times while the camera is moving or the user is interacting with the touch screen.

    • Please check the workaround given in Issue 4636 - Add drag, dragStart, dragEnd handlers in gmaps-api-issues tracker.
  2. Calculate distance between user location & another location

    • You may choose a method which suits you from the list of public methods given in Location to calculate distance and time between locations.
    • As mentioned,

      • distanceBetween() computes the approximate distance in meters between two locations, and optionally the initial and final bearings of the shortest path between them.
      • distanceTo returns the approximate distance in meters between this location and the given location.
    • Solution from this SO post - Find distance between two points on map using Google Map API V2 might help.

  3. Calculate time between user location & another location

    • You may use traffic_model (defaults to best_guess) as given in Directions API

Lastly, you may also opt to refer from Google Maps Android API Utility Library or Google Maps Directions API.
