I'm doing a map activity, but when I run it in the emulator this problem appears: "this app won't work unless you upgrade your Google Play Services".

App Gradle:

apply plugin: 'com.android.application'

    android {
        compileSdkVersion 24
        buildToolsVersion "25.0.0"
        defaultConfig {
            applicationId "chris.touristmap"
            minSdkVersion 19
            targetSdkVersion 24
            versionCode 1
            versionName "1.0"
            testInstrumentationRunner "android.support.test.runner.AndroidJUnitRunner"
            multiDexEnabled true
        }
        buildTypes {
            release {
                minifyEnabled false
                proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android.txt'), 'proguard-rules.pro'
            }
        }
    }

    dependencies {
        compile fileTree(include: ['*.jar'], dir: 'libs')
        androidTestCompile('com.android.support.test.espresso:espresso-core:2.2.2', {
            exclude group: 'com.android.support', module: 'support-annotations'
        })
        compile 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:24.2.1'
        compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services:9.8.0'
        testCompile 'junit:junit:4.12'
        compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services-maps:9.8.0'
        compile 'com.google.android.gms:play-services-appindexing:9.8.0'
    }

and the gradle application :

// Top-level build file where you can add configuration options common to all sub-projects/modules.

buildscript {
    repositories {
        jcenter()
    }
    dependencies {
        classpath 'com.android.tools.build:gradle:2.2.2'

        // NOTE: Do not place your application dependencies here; they belong
        // in the individual module build.gradle files
    }
}

allprojects {
    repositories {
        jcenter()
    }
}

task clean(type: Delete) {
    delete rootProject.buildDir
}

  • Not really a duplicate, because with previous version 9.6.1 it was just working fine with emulator, but with 9.8.0 the google maps won't work anymore. – donfuxx Nov 07 '16 at 10:15
  • is genymotion's emulator working yet with the new version of google play? –  Nov 07 '16 at 23:05
