I have a really strange problem. I have a ComboBox with some Integers, e.g. lets say 3 Integer 1,2 and 3. When the user selects one of them the onAction method is called and depending on the selected Integer something happens. That works all fine. The trouble is, that the ComboBox should show thereafter the last Integer, in this example 3. Easy right? comboBox.getSelectionModel().selectLast(); throws an IndexOutOfBounds Exception. Here is the code

@FXML   private ComboBox<Integer> comboBox;

 if(comboBox.getItems().size() > 0) {
                System.out.println(comboBox.getItems().size());  // shows the right number
                comboBox.getSelectionModel().selectLast();
 }

I also tried comboBox.getSelectionModel().select(comboBox.getItems().size()-1); same result.
