How to parse JSON String containing special characters?

Question

I am using hackerrank.com API for the code compilation. So when user enters code with compilation error the JSON response is like this

In this JSON "compilemessage" contains special escape characters like '' "" ; etc. so how to parse this string so that the characters remains as it is.

When I tried to parse with just normal

jsonobject.getString("compilemessage")

then it converts it into some random character as shown in the picture

use Unicode for "" or for every special character or you can use /also for spatial character for " you can use / for every character or tack help from hare How to define special characters in string array java

you have to add whith string where is spatial character – android_jain Jan 23 '17 at 05:13
But when I am parsing it then only it is converting the string escape character into random characters and I am using third party API so can't use unicode for "" – Raj Suvariya Jan 23 '17 at 05:30
