I am learning cordova and trying to make a simple cordova app which has the push notification service. I am using the plugin [cordova-plugin-firebase][1] for the service. I am sending only data payloads using the php script serverSide.php . I am getting push notifications delivered to my phone if the app is running and even if the app is in the background. But when I close the app I don't receive any push notifications. I have used autostart feature which enables it to start in background but still I am not being able to get the push notification when the app is closed.Are their any listeners for firebaseNotification and on which file do they reside? From the plugin page, I have used the code

window.FirebasePlugin.onNotificationOpen(function(notification) {
    console.log(notification);
}, function(error) {
    console.error(error);
});

and have put in into my js/index.js file. Should I edit something in the MyFirebaseMessagingService.java file which the plugin provides?

This is myserverSide.php file

<?php
// API access key from Google API's Console
define( 'API_ACCESS_KEY', ' my api access key' );

$registrationIds = array( ' registration id of a particular device' );

// prep the bundle
$msg = array
(
    'message'   => 'here is a message1. message',
    'title' => 'This is a title. title',
    'subtitle' => 'This is a subtitle. subtitle',
    'tickerText' => 'Ticker text here...Ticker text here...Ticker text here',
    'click_action' => 'FCM_PLUGIN_ACTIVITY',
    'vibrate'   => 1,
    'sound'     => 1,
    'largeIcon' => 'large_icon',
    'smallIcon' => 'small_icon'
    ,'time_to_live' => 0
    ,'priority' => 'high'
);
$fields = array
(
    'registration_ids'  => $registrationIds,
    'data'          => $msg
);

$headers = array
(
    'Authorization: key=' . API_ACCESS_KEY,
    'Content-Type: application/json'
);

$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt( $ch,CURLOPT_URL, 'https://fcm.googleapis.com/fcm/send' );
curl_setopt( $ch,CURLOPT_POST, true );
curl_setopt( $ch,CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, $headers );
curl_setopt( $ch,CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true );
curl_setopt( $ch,CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false );
curl_setopt( $ch,CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, json_encode( $fields ) );
$result = curl_exec($ch );
curl_close( $ch );
echo $result;

My js/index.js looks like the following.

    Possible duplicate of [Android app not receiving Firebase Notification when app is stopped from multi-task tray](http://stackoverflow.com/q/39504805/4625829) – AL. Feb 07 '17 at 06:56
  • @GauravBora I think this [answer](http://stackoverflow.com/a/39640339/4625829), from the above post, is applicable to what you're experiencing. – AL. Feb 07 '17 at 07:01
  • I had gone through that post. I wanted to know if I am putting the callback function onNotification received in the correct file. I have put it up in js/index.js inside onDeviceReady. So when I close this app the onDeviceReady function is not run. However someone had posted that fcm or gcm has a direct link to the android device and any notification should be received. I was wondering if I should edit some code inside the plugin folder or the android folder – Gaurav Feb 07 '17 at 07:07
