Matching one of two regular expression in javacscript

Question

I want to create a regex that will match one of two regex that are working. The first one is a valid url:

(http(s)?:\/\/.)?(www\.)?[-a-zA-Z0-9@:%._\+~#=]{2,256}\.[a-z]{2,6}\b([-a-zA-Z0-9@:%_\+.~#?&\/=]*).

The second one is for a valid IP:

Both are working and are taken from previous answers here.

I want to create a regex that will match either. I tried following this answer: RegEx: Match one of two patterns but when I tried creating the regex, it fails all the tests of url (except for the one that expect not to be valid). The conact result is:

What am I doing wrong here?

Looks like you’re missing a `$`. Have you considered just matching the two separately and picking the one that’s not `null`, though? (Or logical-oring the results of `test` together?) — Ry-, Feb 23 '17 at 07:38
