Convert Spring Project to Maven

Question

I am converting my old project written in Spring to Maven but got the problems like that. Anybody please help to me

The attribute value is undefined for the annotation type Repository

Your error message seems to be from a IDE (Eclipse?). What message do you get when building the project from command line with "mvn clean package"? Sometimes the IDE isn't up to date with the maven configuration. I've encountered such problems often. So better check it. — jaysee, May 19 '17 at 08:27

So have a look at this [link](http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8978013/error-unmappable-character-for-encoding-utf8-during-maven-compilation) first, if you want to build your project from command line. Otherwise try to update the maven configuration like proposed by @Sergio Escudero. — jaysee, May 19 '17 at 09:09

Is that a JPA Project?

If you are using Spring Data JPA you should add the dependency:

<dependency>
    <groupId>org.springframework.data</groupId>
    <artifactId>spring-data-jpa</artifactId>
    <version>1.11.3.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>

If the project is only a JDBC project you should add:

<dependency>
    <groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
    <artifactId>spring-jdbc</artifactId>
    <version>4.1.2.RELEASE</version>

Thanks, I added JDBC and the project does not show error for now, but when running to tomcat server I got exception: SEVERE: Exception sending context initialized event to listener instance of class org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: org.springframework.util.ClassUtils.isPresent(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/ClassLoader;)Z at org.springframework.core.convert.support.DefaultConversionService.(DefaultConversionService.java:42)..... – dientmUET May 19 '17 at 08:57

The annotation @Repository (org.springframework.stereotype.Repository) is in the jar:

<dependency>
    <groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
    <artifactId>spring-context</artifactId>
</dependency>

so you don't need to add any other dependency.

Try to update the Maven project Project -> right click -> Maven -> Update project

If it doesn't work try to disable Maven Nature: Project -> right click -> Maven -> Disable Maven Nature And add Maven Nature again.

You can try with newer Spring versions, like 4.3.8.RELEASE, too.
