A simple function like saveAsTextFile won't work and the solutions I found- mostly about conflicting versions didnt work for me. Will really appreciate any help.

The funny thing is, the jobs do not fail but I do not see the results directory getting populated. The rdd seems to not be the problem as printing its contents using a foreach works fine.

After I changed the hadoop client version to match rest of the hadoop things (i'm using 2.6.0) this is what I get

  • Can you enable DEBUG logging level for `org.apache.spark.rdd.PairRDDFunctions` and start over. What's your Spark version? How do you run the Spark app? – Jacek Laskowski Jun 01 '17 at 07:57
  • Added the extra debug info to the question. I'm using version spark 2.11 version 2.1.1. I'm running the code as an application in eclipse inside of Cloudera VM cdh5. It is basically streaming in information from a kafka server, doing operations and saving to hfs. – Utkarsh Kajaria Jun 01 '17 at 08:18

Since you are using Hadoop(HDFS) make the following changes

  iprdd.saveAsTextFile("hdfs://<hostname>:<port>/results/");

  • Thanks for your response, but now I get this: "Incomplete HDFS URI, no host: hdfs:///results" . Also tried hdfs:///results/somefile still the same thing. – Utkarsh Kajaria Jun 01 '17 at 10:16

    get the value of `fs.default.name` and add `hostname` and `port` to your URI so that it looks like `hdfs://:/results/` – philantrovert Jun 01 '17 at 10:52

What weird is that the first thing i tried was hdfs://0.0.0.0:8022/ as this worked fine while reading from hdfs: `Configuration configuration = new Configuration(); URI uri = new URI("hdfs://0.0.0.0:8022/data/apache-access-log.txt"); FileSystem hdfs = FileSystem.get(uri, configuration); Path pt = new Path(uri); BufferedReader br=new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(hdfs.open(pt))); String line; line=br.readLine(); ` but apparently saveAsTextFile needs exactly what's specified in the core-site.xml – Utkarsh Kajaria Jun 01 '17 at 19:38
