How to get same results as this pivot query without using PIVOT, is there any other way to do this

Yes there are other ways. You could use a cross tab or conditional aggregation. – Sean Lange Jun 20 '17 at 13:56

@SrinivasaRao - they're currently using `AVG`. That would be an unusual aggregate to "accidentally" be using if they didn't think aggregation was necessary. – Damien_The_Unbeliever Jun 20 '17 at 14:11
