In Angular, I have a number of fields that require IPv6 addresses, and these need to be validated, for example:

is a pattern that I have defined elsewhere. It's the IPv6 pattern that can be found here on this site as the answer to a number of other questions, asking for a javascript regex IPv6 pattern:

This works fine, for the most part. However, when I test this against the string:
9:9:9:9
The pattern also matches this string. My question is: is this a valid IPv6 address? And if not, what is a correct regex to validate IPv6 addresses that also fails when strings like this are entered?
