I installed Android Studio and it's just working fine. Android Device Monitor is crashing while it's starting.

I use java version 9 (Oracle Corporation) and the OS is Xubuntu 16.04

Log-File:

java.lang.IllegalStateException: Unable to acquire application service. Ensure that the org.eclipse.core.runtime bundle is resolved and started (see config.ini).
at org.eclipse.core.runtime.internal.adaptor.EclipseAppLauncher.start(EclipseAppLauncher.java:74)

After the information that "org.eclipse.core.runtime" can't be resolved, I installed eclipse from the repository.

When I start Eclipse I get similar errors.

Is this a known Eclipse + Oracle Java 9 error? Or a Xubuntu 16.04 error?

  • As far as I remember from eclipse stuff, it's because a previous instance of it is running. Try to kill this process from windows task manager and retry (try it when eclipse and studio are down) – BNAndroid Jul 30 '17 at 17:08
  • It was not solving the problem. I downloaded the android tools for linux from, without the Android Studio. Probably they changed something in this package, with the new package till yet everything is working fine – freeLearning Aug 04 '17 at 17:36
