I've tried to install the recent Java 9 on my Mac OS.

In the first moments it seemed all ok, but after restarting STS, it's started to happen this error:

The error persists even after remove/reinstall STS.

The $JAVA_HOME points to JDK_1.8:

$ java -version
java version "1.8.0_121"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_121-b13)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.121-b13, mixed mode)

but in the log, Eclipse is still launched with Java 9:

!SESSION 2017-09-25 14:20:42.193 -----------------------------------------------
eclipse.buildId=3.9.0.201707061823-RELEASE-e47
java.version=9
java.vendor=Oracle Corporation

How to reset jdk 1.8 ?

Thanks

I've solved, even if this can't be an acceptable solution.

I've been forced to remove the JDK 9 from the system, executing the following commands:

sudo rm -fr /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk-9.jdk/
sudo rm -fr /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin
sudo rm -fr /Library/PreferencePanes/JavaControlPanel.prefPane

Same error occured for me while running STS with Java 9 on windows 10.

Following edit was made in STS.ini file and below argument was added in the file.

--add-modules=java.se.ee

It solved the problem.

STS runs after fixing this issue. But still I was not be able to build the solution using Java 9. So it is better to use Java 8 until official version is released by STS.
