Change logging level at runtime in spring boot application

Question

I am trying to change the logging levels (from DEBUG to ERROR or WARN) at runtime in spring boot application. The code is given below.

I have followed the below posts, but still posting the request to change the logging level did not work. Please look below for request and no response from application and I do not see any error in the logs either.

Application.properties, is there something to be done with regard to this file

logging.level.org.springframework.security=ERROR
logging.level.com.test=DEBUG

Are you sure `de.springbootbuch` is the right package name you're trying to change logging level for? As per your properties file it should be `com.test` — Sukhpal Singh, Nov 06 '18 at 06:14

You can use spring-boot actuator's loggers endpoint to change logging level of desired class. In spring-boot 1.5, you can use:

`curl -X "POST" "http://localhost:8080/loggers/<class or package name>" -H "Content- 
Type: application/json; charset=utf-8" -d $'{
"configuredLevel": "ERROR"
}'`

Starting with spring-boot actuator endpoints need to be prefixed with actuator.

I'm using `1.5.X` and I do have context path, I tried with context path, 404. Is this something I tried with management context path same 404. – Pasupathi Rajamanickam Dec 14 '18 at 16:32

As suggested in comment, changing the request like below working

curl -X "POST" "http://localhost:8080/loggers/com.test.controller"      -H "Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8"      -d $'{
  "configuredLevel": "ERROR"
}'
