Catch PSQLException using Hibernate

Question

I'm using Hibernate 5.2 and I want to delete a record.

Table has relationship with another table and deleting is not always possible. I want to catch my PSQLException and get cause. I tried catch it as e.g. HibernateException, JDBCException and then get cause as SQLException but it's never worked.

I can only get global Exception.

Could some advice me how to do it correctly?

As exception of interest is wrapped many times, you should search among causing exceptions, for example extracting one of requred class:

<E extends Throwable> E getCauseOfClass(RuntimeException e, Class<E> exceptionClass) {
