How to open a bottom navigation activity on button click?

Question

I was trying to make my app open the bottom navigation activity on button click.

Here my main activity has the button and the bottom navigation activity is my second activity.

No error is showing in my code,but whenever i run my app it crashes on button click.

Tried making intent for starting the activity.

code of main activity:

@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
    super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
    setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
}
private Button b1;
public void buttonOnClick(View view){
    Intent intent=new Intent(MainActivity.this,Main2Activity.class);
    startActivity(intent);
}

code of nav activity:

try this

public class MainActivity extends AppCompatActivity {
    private Button b1;
    @Override
    protected void onCreate(@Nullable Bundle savedInstanceState) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
        setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
        b1 = findViewById(R.id.b1);
        b1.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() {
            @Override
            public void onClick(View v) {
                Intent intent = new Intent(MainActivity.this, MainActivity2.class);
                startActivity(intent);
            }
        });
    } }

also add your MainActivity & MainActivity2 in AndroidManifest.xml file like this

        android:label="@string/app_name"
        android:roundIcon="@mipmap/ic_launcher_round"
        android:supportsRtl="true"
