My program runs perfectly on my laptop. It can connect to the server and access the database locally. However, the program doesn't work on any other devices which connect to the same modem. So I put a html file in virtual host folder to test it. There are many similar questions on stack overflow, but looks like mine is different from others.

My Apache version is 2.4.41. WAMP version is 3.2. The 64 bit WAMP run on Windows 8.1 Pro. The server configuration is here below:

McAfee was turned off and I also added inbound rules for the port I need.

Not sure whether it is necessary to add port forwarding on modem setting. I reserved the IP address 192.168.2.11 for my server as well.

I tried to open the html test page on my iPhone which connects to the modem. I typed in 192.168.2.11/hello.html. After 2 mins waiting, it gives me "Safari cannot open the page. Server has no response." The page can be open by the browser on my laptop, where the server located.

With all the efforts, the Apache config above is the best I can get. Require All Granted. Server directory checked. IP checked. Port checked... What else I missed? Set up DMZ on modem?

  • You shouldn't need port forwarding, DMZ, or anything like that for a web server on a local network. Are you sure the other devices are on the same network? – Aioros May 04 '20 at 15:10
  • Yes, I am pretty sure. I have two smart phones, a laptop and a PC. All of them connect to my Bell Hub 3000 modem. I just tried, my PC cannot ping my laptop... I typed `ping 192.168.2.11` on my PC cmd. it returns request time out. – Soban May 04 '20 at 15:25
  • That's what I meant with same network. I understand the devices connect "physically" to the same modem (which I assume is a router), but maybe they are on different subnetworks for some reason. For example, what's the PC's IP address? – Aioros May 04 '20 at 15:27
  • To be clear, even being on different subnetworks shouldn't cause the issue, but it's probably better to have all the info. – Aioros May 04 '20 at 15:28
  • You are right. Looks like they are not in a same sub networks. I just post IP configurations for my laptop and PC. – Soban May 04 '20 at 15:57
  • Seems to me that your network is a little more complicated than you thought. Your laptop's WiFi has default gateway 192.168.2.1, which I assume is the modem. Your PC's has 192.168.5.1, what is it? My guess is you have a wifi extender that is creating a different network. You should be able to configure it as a bridge/repeater, with no NAT or DHCP. – Aioros May 04 '20 at 16:15
