I've set my root password some time ago and I can't remember it. I can't run a command to change it because it doesn't even connect in the first place. I've tried to reinstall it several times but the program still asks for the same root password.

Is there a method that can change it from the workbench or something? I've tried everything.

  • What does this have to do with Python? – Karl Knechtel May 21 '20 at 01:28
  • You haven't tried everything. [Official documentation](https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/resetting-permissions.html) has exactly the answer. Adjust URL depending on your MySQL version. – danblack May 21 '20 at 01:50

  • Please read [Under what circumstances may I add “urgent” or other similar phrases to my question, in order to obtain faster answers?](//meta.stackoverflow.com/q/326569) - the summary is that this is not an ideal way to address volunteers, and is probably counterproductive to obtaining answers. Please refrain from adding this to your questions. – halfer May 21 '20 at 09:48
