Trying to combine two datasets of different lengths (using Combine() in R

Question

These are the two datasets in question:

I am trying to combine them

the issue is that the Training dataset has 1000 rows and the testing has 460

But really, i just want to join them to have 1460 rows

The assignment says to use the combine function:

When i just do combine on the two datasets, i get this:

So then i tried

> gtable_combine(Housing_Training,Housing_Testing)

`combine` if it is from `dplyr`. According to `?combine`, it is deprecated. It is actually for combining vectors. If you want to rbind, them use `bind_rows` — akrun, Jul 02 '20 at 22:45
Have you gone back to your tutor? Maybe the problem they gave you should be updated in light of the comments above. I've assumed here that you are told to use "the combine function" rather than simply to combine the two data frames. The latter gives you free range on how to do the combination. — Michelle, Jul 02 '20 at 22:48

According to ?dplyr::combine (used dplyr 1.0.0)

combine() is deprecated in favour of vctrs::vec_c(). combine() attempted to automatically guess whether you wanted c() or unlist(), but could fail in surprising ways. We now believe it's better to be explicit.

So, it would be combining vectors and assuming that we need to bind the rows of the data.frame, an option is bind_rows

bind_rows(Housing_Training,Housing_Testing, .id = 'grp')
