I have a JavaFX app with multiple FXML files and controller classes, it uses both MySQL and HSQL, I am trying to run this app in order to edit it but when it runs, the first window loads normally pretty straightforward (the first window consist of multiple buttons that leads to different windows). When I click on any button I get this massive error :

now the last line leads me to this piece of code :

@FXML
public void openInf() throws IOException, ClassNotFoundException {
    s = "Informatique";

    Stage stg = (Stage) anchorPaneFront.getScene().getWindow();
    stg.close();
    stg.setResizable(true);

    Parent root = FXMLLoader.load(getClass().getResource("inf.fxml"));
    Scene scene = new Scene(root);
    stg.setScene(scene);
    stg.show();
}

What I understand so far is that it can't locate inf.fxml, so I tried to replace it with the full path of the FXML file but the same error occurs, can someone help me understand what is happening and how can I solve it?

    the resource is not where you expect it to be - see [How do I determine the correct path for FXML files, CSS files, Images, and other resources needed by my JavaFX Application?](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/61531317/how-do-i-determine-the-correct-path-for-fxml-files-css-files-images-and-other) – kleopatra Sep 23 '20 at 11:18

    java naming conventions please – kleopatra Sep 23 '20 at 11:18
  • For the information, when you call your FXML view with a relative path, you have to start from the **src** path of your Java project. – 0009laH Sep 23 '20 at 12:06
  • can you explain in simpler or more practical terms, or show how to fix it, understanding your explanation is kinda hard since i am a begginer. – zee ilyas Sep 23 '20 at 12:37

    @0009laH That's not really true. You start from the root of the *classpath*. The `src` path isn't even available at runtime; there is a relationship between the structure of what's included in `src` and what ends up on the classpath, but that relationship is determined by the build tool and/or IDE. – James_D Sep 23 '20 at 13:07
