when I run sudo mongod, I get this error

  • Error says: `NonExistentPath: Data directory /data/db not found.` So maybe [this](https://stackoverflow.com/q/37702957/13464279) answers helps you. As an abstract: Create directory or execute command as root. – J.F. Mar 06 '21 at 18:56

You need to either create the path that mongoDB uses by default /data/db or you can run your mongo with the parameter --dbpath and override the default with another existing one of your choice
