I'm trying to add a Windows Worker Node in the Kubernetes cluster using containerd and Calico CNI. It failed to join the cluster after running the kubeadm join command in Powershell with the following error after:

[preflight] Running pre-flight checks

Unfortunately, an error has occurred:
timed out waiting for the condition

This error is likely caused by:
        - The kubelet is not running
        - The kubelet is unhealthy due to a misconfiguration of the node in some way (required cgroups disabled)

If you are on a systemd-powered system, you can try to troubleshoot
the error with the following commands:
        - 'systemctl status kubelet'
        - 'journalctl -xeu kubelet' error execution phase kubelet-start: timed out waiting for the condition To see the stack
trace of this error execute with --v=5 or higher

Thank you in advance for all help.

  • Did you take a look https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52140852/kubeadm-join-fails-with-http-localhost10248-healthz-connection-refused https://stackoverflow.com/questions/52119985/kubeadm-init-shows-kubelet-isnt-running-or-healthy – Malgorzata Apr 07 '21 at 07:29
  • Yes, I did follow the instructions and the above logs were the results. Can you direct me if there's any link for a good reference on doing CNI for policy and contained for Windows Worker node. I'm deploying it in our environment to replace docker as this is going to be unsupported after this year? – user15566847 Apr 09 '21 at 05:26
  • Did you see https://kubernetes.io/docs/setup/production-environment/windows/intro-windows-in-kubernetes/ ? – Malgorzata Apr 22 '21 at 11:40
