Apache won't start after upgrading Xampp to php8

Question

I upgraded my xampp installation to php8. I followed all the instructions I find but apache won't start:

If I run php -v , it shows php8 is installed.

I installed php8 in c:\xampp\php and kept my old php.ini file.

I tried all the advices in this post, but none work..
