I am trying to read value from gamepad in Python to send it to arduino. I found two versions. This one works fine and and I am getting values from axis.

but this short code does not read axis values. Everything else like get_numaxes,get_name etc works.

        axes = pygame.joystick.Joystick(0).get_axis(0)
        print(axes)

Any idea? I tried inputs library but it did not recognize gamepad. Also tried pygame.event.get() the same result. Iam using Windows 10, python 3.9, pygame 2.1.2 and 2.0.0 Thanks.
