Trouble installing python openstacksdk on Windows machine

Question

I am trying to install the python openstacksdk package via PyCharm (using pip in terminal), but I keep getting the following error message. I only posted a partial error message, I can add the whole message if needed. Any thoughts? I am using a Windows 10 machine.

Can you post the commands you ran to obtain this error or the url of the manual you where using as guide? I installed a with no problem using pip. — Rockcat, Mar 02 '22 at 05:39
within PyCharm on my Windows machine, I opened terminal and ran: pip install openstacksdk. The install begins Ok, but it errors out. I am going to try and attach the full error message. the error message also contains the line where I ran the command — zadroga, Mar 02 '22 at 14:05

You don't really need to use pip when you are using pycharm! Just head over to your code and go to the line where you have typed "import openstacksdk" and click it. A red or yellow bulb icon should appear, click on it, and hit the first option: import openstacksdk. Pycharm would automatically download the library for you!

that's what I first tried, but no luck. The first error message is this - Building wheels for collected packages: netifaces Building wheel for netifaces (setup.py): started Building wheel for netifaces (setup.py): finished with status 'error' Running setup.py clean for netifaces – zadroga Mar 02 '22 at 14:22
hmm that is weird.. I am getting the same error too. Looks like it seems to be a problem with the latest version of the library. I believe looking for an older version on the web would and manually installing it from there would help? – Danny Mar 02 '22 at 14:31

I was finally able to resolve my issue when trying to install openstacksdk in Python either by pip install or PyCharm.

I had to install Microsoft C++ Build Tools via the following url https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/visual-cpp-build-tools/
