I want to include a static PDF as a vignette in a package that is to be uploaded to CRAN. One approach I found with some Googling is to create an .Rnw file that uses the pdfpages LaTeX package to copy the PDF into the vignette output, and in fact that appears to be what some people have done, and its what I have locally. For example that approach is referenced here StackOverflow: R: How to include static pdf in vignette for CRAN?, again here StackOverflow: Using a static (prebuilt) PDF vignette in R package and in Mark Vanderloo's blog entry. RHub however does not reliably provide the pdfpages package, in some cases it works (for example Windows Server 2022, R-devel, 64 bit) and in some (for example Fedora Linux, R-devel, clang, gfortran) it doesn't.
The PDF is a LaTeX document that is maintained separately and contains images and a custom style, so I'd really rather not embed the whole thing in the R Package.
