upgrading to androidx.appcompat:appcompat:1.5.0 causing unable to build project

Question

I was trying to upgrade implementation 'androidx.appcompat:appcompat:1.4.2' to the implementation 'androidx.appcompat:appcompat:1.5.0'. But it failed to build/run project showing the following errors in my logcat. The version 1.4.2 was working fine but when i updated it to 1.5.0 it shows errors and i can't run project. So how to resolve this issue?
