note: This is an issue with the package mentioned above, not pip.
hint: See above for details.

The error apparently said that the problem wasn't with pip, it was with the module itself. I'm using the Python interpreter 3.10.9 on VS Code. I'm downloading it using VS Code's integrated terminal.

How can I fix this error?

I tried doing "pip install pygame --pre" and got the same results.

  • According to the trace back you’re using Python 3.9 installed inside Mingw64, this is likely a non standard edition of Python and therefore there are not pygame wheels for it. You say you’re using 3.10, but it doesn’t look like you are. Try py -3.10 -m pip install pygame – Starbuck5 Dec 17 '22 at 04:49
  • @Starbuck5 Apparently, it's already installed, but it says it's not. – Dat1_ Dec 17 '22 at 04:57
  • It seems like you have several Python installs in your computer, maybe you have 2 separate python 3.10s – Starbuck5 Dec 17 '22 at 05:07
  • Try running pygame in the command line by opening a repl with “py -3.10” and then do “import pygame” – Starbuck5 Dec 17 '22 at 05:07
