I understand this is a Typescript definition file, but what's the file's origin? I watched a guy doing a coding video create a type in this file, which then made it available everywhere without importing it (the type).
Does one have to use the filename typings.d.ts for this, or does Typescript autodetect any *.d.ts file?
There's little documentation available on it and I'm having trouble understanding when I can use the file.
