Background: we are in a hybrid environment, with On-prem Exchange server and 365.

Shared mailbox is created as a user with mailbox on-prem first before being converted to a Shared Mailbox.

A Mailbox was created like this a while ago, and I was asked to change the name (together with new main SMTP email address, keeping the old ones as aliases).

Name change was done in AD, everything syncs well to 365. Inside and outside emails would reach the new address of the mailbox. Everything in AD would have the name new.

For it's purpose, the mailbox is working. But what is irking me is when I do get-mailbox -identity newemail@here.com , the name that shows up is still the old name, and the Alias is of the new name

Name Alias
---- -----
Old name New name

set-mailbox -Identity "newemail@here.com" -Name "New Name"" would show an scope error that tells me to do this from on-prem. But I cannot see anywhere in the on-prem server that refers to the old name anywhere

Could anyone help please? Thank you

Code tried as above.
