I'm getting the classic error: The database connector: 'crdb_oracle.dll' could not be loaded. The correct version of the database client for this database type might not be installed.

I know I've installed the 64 bit Oracle ODBC (Instant client 21.9) correctly because my Excel spreadsheets are working okay when updating from the database. I haven't installed the 32 bit version because Crystal 2020 is meant to be 64 bit. I am nervous about installing the 32 bit version if it's not needed and worried it might mess things up. I've experienced this problem with versions of Crystal since 2007 and Oracle ODBC 12.1. You'd think they could fix it. I've tried updating the path with an entry to where crdb_oracle.dll lives on the disk. Anyone got any other ideas?

    You can install 32-bit and 64-bit Oracle client, see https://stackoverflow.com/questions/24104210/badimageformatexception-this-will-occur-when-running-in-64-bit-mode-with-the-32#24120100 However, if don't need it, then there is no reason for it. You can use the [Process Monitor](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon) to see where your application is looking for the dll file. – Wernfried Domscheit Mar 21 '23 at 09:01
