Although it's not my latest commit, I haven't pushed it. I want to remove a specific file of data because its too big, and I have super low upload speeds (it will take 2 full days to push). This is making it impossible to push my latest commits as well, and it's pausing my teams work. Is there any way I can keep the file locally, and remove it from the commit?

All the questions I see is for already pushed commits / the latest commit, so they aren't of much help I think.

  • Whether or not commits have been pushed, the methods to remove a file from the history still work. Just pick an answer that does not only handle the last commit. – j6t Aug 24 '23 at 11:46
