Why is a dynamically created span's value not returning when called by ID in jQuery?

I have a dynamically created span. I need to dynamically retrieve its value. For some reason it returns nothing and the alert box pops up completely blank.

I tried using $(this).val() and it didn't work, I also tried using its ID to call it and it didn't work.

Spans don't have a value. Only user inputs have a value. – Barmar Aug 24 '23 at 17:40
