Major cites in the world with latitude and longitude?

Question

I need a database of major cities in this world, together with their latitude longitudes and timezone. Is such a resource available?

any idea where i can get it. or any one can share it with me ?

Wikipedia has a structured API you can query to get info about a specific entry. See this related question. This page collects some of such resources.

I think that would depend on what you class as a major city.

There's always the Google Maps API for obtaining Latitude, Longitude of places.
